Description:

The Parts Advisor is involved in virtually every aspect of the Parts department`s daily operation.  Duties include the ordering, selling, preparing, delivering, shipping and receiving of inventory while providing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Present a professional personal appearance and provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers via phone, electronically and in person. 
  • Sell parts over the counter to wholesale and retail customers.
  • Handle telephone parts orders called in by wholesale, retail and/or internal accounts.
  • Assist walk-in customers in selecting required parts by making product recommendations and also informing customers of any specials.
  • Assist service technicians in selecting parts needed for vehicle repairs.
  • Notify the Service Advisor and the customer when ordered parts have been received.
  • Provide necessary information to the warranty department to allow prompt filing of parts warranties.
  • Accurately handle costing of parts on repair orders as appropriate.
  • Assist wholesale representatives with their orders.
  • Report all overages and shortages to Parts Manager and suggest parts orders when necessary.
  • Keep current on new products and product updates.
  • Submit special orders if requested by the customer for parts not in stock.
  • Assist in preparing and performing of the annual parts inventory.
  • Tag and maintain inventory of warranty parts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to interpret vendor catalogs and materials.  Knowledge in Parts Inventory Control/Invoicing Software preferred.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Excellent oral and written communication skills, and organizational skills.  Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees.  Must be attentive and able to work under pressure. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend six to eight hours per shift moving throughout the parts department.  S/he will climb ladders to get parts from shelves.  May lift parts weighing up to 70 pounds.  Must be well coordinated physically and able to stand for long periods of time.  S/he will bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands/arms to reach, handle, and feel and lay down, stretch, upward, downward, forward and backward.  S/he will work closely with the service department and will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials.  The employee may also be exposed to outside weather conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Must have at least one year experience and knowledge in the sale of automotive parts. 
  • A valid Guam driver's license with a good driving record is required.
