SERVICE AGENT (TEMPORARY)

The Service Agent position requires individuals with a take charge attitude working under minimum supervision and with an awareness for the importance for safety, quality, and providing customer service.  S/he takes daily vehicle inventory and quickly and efficiently ensures they are cleaned & serviced as required to accommodate rental demand.  Coordinates the timely pick up of customers and drop off.  Assists leasing department as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Takes daily lot inventory of rental vehicles before the opening of the first shift and at closing.
  • Completes out of service vouchers for vehicles needing maintenance work and routing to the proper destination.
  • Routes vehicles from one point to another to assist with reservations demand.
  • Coordinates with customer service representatives by checking on the number of reservations and ensures vehicles are cleaned, gassed, have insurance and registration, have tools and spare tire, check battery, brake, and transmission fluid level, and be ready to go for incoming customers.
  • Assist customers prior to and after the return of vehicle and conducts an inspection of the vehicle for any damages or missing items.
  • Coordinates on-time pick up of customers with the customer service representative on duty and assist with the drop-off of customers. 
  • Handles trouble-shooting of vehicles rented by customers.
  • Handles safety inspection of vehicles for registration renewals.
  • Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of the wash-lot area.
  • Provide assistance as directed by the customer service representative.
  • Immediately notifies / turn-in to the customer service representative - any lost & found items left behind in the vehicle by the customer.
  • Responsible for securing vehicles and equipment at closing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some knowledge in aspects of automotive repair and maintenance is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. 
  • Professional personal appearance and able to work well with the public, sometimes with several customers at one time, and other department personnel.
  • Must be attentive, detail oriented and able to work under pressure and able to work flexible hours.
  • Must be able to use good judgment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This is a physically challenging and demanding position requiring the service agent to work outdoors and indoors, stand six to eight hours per shift, lift parts weighing up to 70 pounds several times during each shift.  S/he is expected to drive various dealership vehicles.   The duties of the position requires bodily movements such as bend, kneel, crawl, stoop, reach, crouch, twist, climb, handle and feel, lay down and stretch, upward, downward, forward and backward, and at times perform other physically challenging feats to service a vehicle and secure company property.  S/he will be exposed to the sun, rain, and windy conditions, vibration, noise, exhaust fumes, dust, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
