Guam Legal Services Corporation-Disability Law Center (GLSC-DLC) is a private, non-profit corporation providing low-cost legal services to the low-income community, persons with disabilities, victims of violence, sexual assault and stalking and to children in non-criminal cases. GLSC-DLC is now accepting applications for the following full-time position:
The primary responsibilities of the ATTORNEY includes working with individuals with disabilities and their families; conducting/overseeing investigations, research and outreach; and performing other activities consistent with GLSC-DLC’s Protection and Advocacy Programs’ as well as Legal Assistance to Victims and Victims of Crime Act program requirements. The position also requires performing additional duties consistent with GLSC-DLC’s other programs.
Must have a Law Degree and be barred to practice on Guam or in another jurisdiction but is prepared to take the bar examination and pass within two (2) years and have a minimum of one (1) year work experience. Applicants must possess a strong social service background and field experience as well as excellent communication skills. Applicants must further demonstrate the ability to organize, manage and complete projects in a timely manner; develop new skills and knowledge as needed; and work collaboratively with GLSC-DLC staff, its collaborative partners and the community. Fluency in other languages is an asset.
Applicants should have a team-oriented attitude. Must be able to empathize and have an understanding for survivors of domestic violence, individuals with disabilities, minors in the court system and other vulnerable populations. Applicants must have a professional appearance, good communication skills, efficient typing skills and computer proficiency. Applicants must also have a valid driver’s license and his/her own vehicle.
