Materials Tester

Day to Day:

A materials tester spends the day performing field and laboratory tests to ensure soil, concrete, plastic, or asphalt meets project specifications. They travel to construction sites to conduct compaction and moisture tests, collect samples, and observe earthwork operations forcompliance. Travel will be up to two hours away and reimbursed. Throughout the day, they record accurate data, prepare reports, and communicate findings to engineers and project managers. When needed, they analyze samples in the lab for classification and density. At the end of the day, they maintain equipment, upload reports, and plan for upcoming assignments.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Perform material testing of soils, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, plastic on an active construction site.
Field sampling and compaction testing
Field inspection, testing, sampling, equipment, and equipment maintenance on assigned project.
Laboratory analysis of soil properties (density, moisture, classification).
Accurate documentation and reporting.
Communication with project stakeholders.
Compliance with safety and environmental standards

Required Skills & Experience

Must Haves:
- Any of the following certifications:
ACI Concrete Field Testing
ODOT Pre-qualified for Soil and Compaction
ODOT Level 2 Asphalt
NICET Soil Level 2 or higher
NETTCP Soils and Aggregate Inspector
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Prior construction site experience
- 1+ years of experience within material testing
High school diploma
