The Museum Intern position provides practical experience in the history museum environment and with a museum project to a college student or recent graduate.

They will specifically work on cataloguing and properly housing a portion of the Anti-Saloon League Collection, which recently returned from the Ohio History Connection.

The intern will be cataloguing, photographing, and encapsulating posters that were printed in Westerville during Prohibition. A public program or pop-up exhibit of their work will be included at the end of the experience.

Requirements

• Higher level coursework-junior, senior, graduate school, or recently graduated-in a discipline like archives, museum studies, or public history.

• Knowledge of basic collections care principles.

• Basic understanding of archival collections.

• Interest and energy for working with historical archives.

• Ability to read and write English proficiently.

• Strong organizational skills.

• Ability to interact with staff and the public in a consistent, friendly and courteous manner.

• Positive attitude and a willingness to accept direction.

• Experience with collections cataloguing a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• While performing duties of internship, the individual typically handles office equipment and objects and frequently communicates with others.

• Duties require a fair amount of bending, kneeling, stooping and standing and careful attention to delicate paper materials.

• The majority of the work is performed in an office setting.
