We are currently seeking experienced and credentialed outpatient coders who are detail-oriented and knowledgeable in medical terminology. This role offers the flexibility of a fully remote work environment, allowing you to make a significant impact from wherever you are!
We prefer candidates who specialize in Cath coding, Endo, Observation coding, and OP Surgery. Experience with Cerner/3M is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review medical records, assigning accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
- Ensure correct sequencing of codes according to medical documentation.
- Assign appropriate discharge dispositions.
- Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistical and reporting purposes.
- Identify and communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues for resolution.
- Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% and uphold productivity standards.
- Track continuing education credits to keep professional credentials up to date.
- Participate in Datavant-sponsored educational meetings and in-services.
- Demonstrate initiative and sound judgment in job performance.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, and hospital staff regarding clinical and reimbursement matters.
- Deliver professional, efficient, and positive service.
- Adhere to the code of ethics set by the American Health Information Management Association.
- Exhibit dependence, flexibility, and a willingness to learn.
- Manage a complex workload while making informed decisions.
- Show strong organizational and collaboration skills.
- Comply with all HIM Division Policies.

Qualifications:
- AHIMA or AAPC certified credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, or CRC).
- At least 2 years of coding experience in a hospital or coding consulting setting.
- Proficient in Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions coding specialties.
- Strong skills in E/M leveling and Ancillary and Emergency Department coding.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, adept remote work practices, and exceptional time management skills.
- Familiarity with computerized encoding and abstracting software.
- Must pass annual HIPAA training as well as other designated annual tests.

The hourly pay range for this role is $20 - $35, dependent on location, responsibilities, skills, experience, and other role-related factors.
