JOB STATUS: FLSA Overtime Eligible
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator or Coordinator, Custodial Services
DEPARTMENT: Business Operations
POSITION SUMMARY: To assist the High School Head Custodian by supervising the custodial staff during the evening hours.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma or training and experience that are considered equivalent.
- A knowledge in general repair, painting, cleaning, and operating of cleaning equipment.
- A working knowledge of heating, air conditioning, and ventilating systems.
- An ability to communicate in a courteous manner.
- A neat appearance.
- Competence in supervising others.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Cleans an assigned area.
- Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the storage, use and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste and hazardous material [OSHA].
- At the direction of the Head Custodian, oversees the custodians on his/her shift in the preparation and clean-up of extra events at the high school.
- Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the maintenance, repair and operation of equipment and machines [OSHA].
- Handles emergency situations that might occur. When necessary, contacts Head Custodian or Director of Building, Grounds and Maintenance.
- Assists the Head Custodian in the evaluation of the custodial staff.
- Ensures the safety of students.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relationships.
- Remains free of any alcohol or nonprescription controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment in the district.
- Exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment.
- Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, and intelligent human beings.
- Understands the legal responsibility to help instill in students the belief in, and practice of, ethical principles and democratic values.
- Maintains confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
