Job Title: Rec Sports Special Events Coordinator
Department: Student Life | Recreational Sports Administration
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Scheduling and Events the Recreational Sport Event Planner will lead the special event operations and staff for all aspects of events held within Recreational Sport facilities. Serve as evening and weekend professional staff contact person for special events, reservations, customers and clients taking place at the Recreational Sport facilities. Role is responsible for knowing all aspects of event policies and procedures for department. Ensures all event groups follow policies and procedures. participates in event planning and consultation with student organizations and all other event client groups including catering, facility operations, to accomplish event objectives and clarify policies; works with external vendors and services to arrange for equipment. provides special event coverage. Liaison between outside vendors, caterers, and clients. Uses knowledge experience to influence others in the event planning process to ensure a successful event and solve routine problems. Responsible for leading a 30-person student staff including hiring, training and orientation, scheduling daily work, and approving timekeeping. Provides direction to staff and deploying resources. Solves routine matters for staff and focus on short term goals and team performance. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 2 years of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
DESIRED: Experience in large facility scheduling and event planning. Master's degree; Experience in a recreational sports and/or university setting; Knowledge of Social Tables or comparable. Previous experience planning and serving as on-site staff for event planning.
Additional Information: The pay range for this position is $19.28-$24.03.
