Clubhouse Assistant



Brief description of role


The main role of a clubhouse assistant is to assist in the daily clubhouse operations during the course of the season. General responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Set up, organization and general maintenance of clubhouse facilities
  2. Equipment, uniform, player affects management
    1. Making sure each of the above are stored and maintained in proper player or coaches lockers
  3. Laundry services
    1. General player/coach laundry
    2. Post game treatment of uniforms
  4. Cleat cleaning both post game and occasionally post practice
  5. Pre and post game meal set up (and any team meals)
  6. Restocking clubhouse snack shelves and refrigerators
  7. Ready to assist any player or coach in any task or request they require assistance with
  8. Any extra assignments posted by supervisors
  9. Maintain confidentiality regarding team activities, discussions and player/coach interactions
Equipment Management
  1. Help rub baseballs for use in games
  2. Set up dugout
    1. Water/Gatorade coolers
    2. Sunflower seeds
    3. Gum
    4. Towels
    5. Team medical items
  3. Set up for pregame practice
    1. Bullpens
    2. Batting practice
    3. On field
  4. Travel day equipment
    1. Packing equipment for road trips
    2. Unpacking equipment when coming back from road trips.
Batboy/Girl


Brief description role

The main role of the bat boy/girl is to keep the game flowing by assisting both the teams and the umpires with their duties throughout the game. General responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  1. Delivering new balls to the umpires and retrieving foul balls hit around the backstop of home plate.
  2. Retrieve bats and other batting equipment from players once the play has concluded.
  3. General dugout maintenance
    1. Keeping bats, gear, etc... organized
  4. Post game responsibilities include but are not limited to
    1. Collecting and storing all helmets and other left behind game gear left in the dugout
    2. Dumping out water and Gatorade coolers and storing them away
    3. Sweeping dugout floor and pick up any left behind trash
    4. Store any unopened sunflower seed bags and gum

Other Important information
  1. Proper uniform must be worn during games - this includes a helmet being worn at all times
    1. Both are provided by the team
  2. Do not interfere with the game going on
  3. One cannot keep any game equipment (broken bats, game balls, etc...) nor can one give anything away to fans or friends
  4. Any extra instructions and responsibilities may be given by supervisors
Required Qualifications
  1. Minimum 16 years of age
  2. Flexible schedule
    1. Ability to be on call at most any time
    2. Working odd hours
    3. Holidays
    4. Weekends
  3. Knowledge of baseball and understanding of the flow of the game
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Available to work most Clippers home games
  2. Ability to stand/sit for long periods of time
  3. Ability to work in all weather conditions
  4. Agile and able to run quickly
  5. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
