GENERAL PURPOSE: This role is critical in ensuring a safe and secure environment for both associates and customers by maintaining a strong visual presence at store entrances, exits, and within the sales floor. The Retail Security Specialist proactively deters theft and fraud by engaging with customers and enforcing loss prevention policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environment:

• Prioritizes safety, assisting store leadership in achieving a secure environment for all.
• Exhibits visible presence by greeting customers with a smile and monitoring safety conditions in required attire.
• Keeps emergency exits clear and clutter-free.

Developing Great Teams & Partnerships:

• Delivers exceptional customer service and builds rapport via friendly interactions.
• Treats all individuals with respect and professionalism at all times.
• Engages with partners for collaborative meetings and recognizes the contributions of associates.
• Assists in various loss prevention initiatives as needed.

Mitigating Theft & Fraud:

• Observes sales floor and access points for suspicious behavior and potential theft.
• Utilizes intelligence from internal and external sources to inform store leadership about theft trends.
• Follows all company protocols for responding to theft incidents.
• Implements best practices to enhance operational efficiency.

Minimizing Operational Shortage:

• Educates associates on practices to minimize operational shortage.
• Validates that checkout procedures are properly followed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree is a plus.
• Prior experience in retail supervision or relevant training is preferred.
• Experience in loss prevention or security training is an advantage.
• Active security guard license is preferred.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills are essential.
• Proven ability to resolve conflicts successfully.
• Must comply with all security-related laws and regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

• Attendance and punctuality are crucial to this role.
• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
• Must be able to lift and move objects over 25 lbs.
• Regular bending, stooping, or crouching required based on daily needs.
• Additional qualifications may be relevant for specific tasks.
