Job Summary

Chloeta is seeking a Part-Time Fuels Planner III to lead hazardous fuels reduction and wildfire mitigation planning efforts and serve as a senior technical resource. This position is ideal for a Senior planning or natural resources professional who is interested in contributing to projects that reduce wildfire risk and improve community and landscape resilience. The Fuels Planner III will lead planning, analysis, documentation, and coordination activities with minimal supervision of the Project Manager, Intelligence and Analytics.

Travel:Up to 15%, contingent upon business needs

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead in the development of fuels reduction and wildfire mitigation plans, including Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs) and project-specific planning documents.
  • Direct and coordinate environmental and planning compliance efforts (e.g., NEPA, state or local requirements) by preparing documentation, tracking milestones, and compiling supporting materials.
  • Conduct and interpret advanced spatial and non-spatial data analysis related to fuels, fire risk, vegetation, and community values.
  • Review, approve, and guide the development of maps and figures, and create summaries to support project planning, grant applications, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Serve as the primary technical contract with project managers, fire personnel, land managers, and community partners to gather information and support planning efforts.
  • Lead or significantly contribute with grant-related planning tasks, including project scoping, budgeting support, and documentation for reporting.
  • Create and maintain project files, datasets, and records in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Represent the company in meetings, workshops, and public engagement activities as needed.
  • Perform other planning or administrative duties as assigned to support fuels and wildfire mitigation programs.
  • Promote active support of the company's safety program.

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Advance verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and technical coordination abilities.
  • Ability to work in a remote or distributed team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality over information, conversations, and other related matters.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and related software.
  • Advanced knowledge of wildfire behavior, fuels management, or wildfire mitigation concepts.


Education and Experience
  • Required: 20-25 years & HS diploma OR 15-20 years & Associates OR 15 years & Bachelor's degree
  • Required: Wildland fire experience with verifiable progression through fire leadership and supervision/management positions.
  • Required: Prior experience supporting fuels reduction, wildfire mitigation, or land management projects.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Preferred: Seven (7) years' experience in wildland fire management and leadership.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.
  • Must be able to lift, push and/or pull up to 50lbs.
Pre-employment Requirements
