The Sterile Processing Tech plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and readiness of surgical instruments and equipment used throughout the hospital. This position supports the operating room, procedural areas, and inpatient units by decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, sterilizing, and distributing surgical instrumentation while adhering to strict infection prevention and sterilization standards. Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Sterile Processing Technician program or equivalent experience CRCST or CBSPD certification preferred (or ability to obtain) Minimum 1 year of recent sterile processing experience in a hospital or surgical setting Strong working knowledge of sterile technique, infection control, and instrument sterilization processes Familiarity with steam sterilizers, low-temperature sterilization systems, ultrasonic washers, and instrument tracking software Excellent attention to detail, organization, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment BLS certification may be required depending on facility guidelines Responsibilities: Decontaminate, clean, and disinfect surgical instruments and equipment following established protocols Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and proper operation before assembly Assemble instrument trays and sets according to department standards and surgeon preferences Operate and monitor autoclaves, low-temp sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, and other reprocessing equipment Document sterilization cycles, biological testing, and load tracking in compliance with regulatory standards Maintain inventory levels of sterile supplies, ensuring accurate distribution to operating rooms and clinical areas Follow strict infection control, safety, and quality assurance policies Collaborate with OR staff, nurses, and surgical teams to ensure timely availability of required instruments Participate in equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and proper storage practices SnapCare Benefits: End of Shift Payments Medical, dental, vision, life, disability Guaranteed Hours Why work for SnapCare: Get end-of-shift pay through our Paymint app. Enjoy comprehensive benefits that cover medical, dental, vision care and more.
