Print Production Pre-Press Operator

Department:
Administration and Planning | UniPrint Printing and Copying Production

The Print Production Pre-Press Operator is responsible for preparing and placing files for digital, wide-format, and offset printing.

Duties include:
  • Processing electronic files, importing them into software, and imposing them onto press sheets while making necessary color, text, and image corrections.
  • The role involves assembly, typesetting, and creating die lines, as well as producing proofs.
  • Collaborating with Customer Service Representatives to ensure accuracy.
Additional responsibilities include platemaking and equipment maintenance, monitoring inventory levels, and inputting data into tracking systems. The position requires meeting production deadlines, organizing work efficiently, and performing routine tasks under moderate supervision with some independent judgment.

Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent education/experience.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in offset printing and digital copying required.
  • Knowledge of all facets of printing and copying (pre-press, pressroom, bindery, and mailing).
  • Strong computer literacy skills, including locating, moving, imposing, and troubleshooting files.
  • Experience in color management.
Desired:
  • 2-4 years of experience in offset printing and digital copying.
  • Strong proficiency with Adobe Suite and offset workflow systems (e.g., Fuji XMF).
  • Thorough knowledge of printing processes, equipment, materials, and methods of operation.
  • Understanding paper types and stock differences.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to meet production schedules, and multitasking capability.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods (8 hours or more).


Additional Information:

The target hiring range for this job profile is $20.24 - $26.44 hourly. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
