Employment Opportunity

Under the direct supervision of the Facility Supervisor, the Facility Attendant is responsible for performing custodial and minor maintenance duties to ensure that the Recreation and Wellness Center is clean, safe, and well-maintained. This position is essential in providing a clean and welcoming environment for all guests and staff. The Facility Attendant will assist in maintaining the facility's cleanliness, performing routine maintenance tasks, and supporting operational needs.
Essential Functions of Work
Perform custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing restrooms, fitness areas, pool deck, gymnasium, hallways, and common areas.
Clean and sanitize equipment, fitness machines, and surfaces to ensure a hygienic environment for guests and staff.
Empty trash cans, replace liners, and ensure proper disposal of waste throughout the facility.
Replenish restroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other necessary materials.
Monitor the facility for cleanliness and report any maintenance or safety concerns, including broken equipment or safety hazards.
Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, minor plumbing tasks, and maintaining fitness equipment as directed.
Set up and tear down equipment for special events, programs, or classes, ensuring that rooms or activity areas are ready for use.
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of outdoor areas, including cleaning walkways, parking lots, and entrances, as well as removing trash from the exterior of the facility.
Perform periodic deep-cleaning tasks, including carpet cleaning, floor waxing, and window washing.
Assist with regular checks of pool areas, ensuring that the surrounding deck and restrooms are clean and functional.
Report any necessary repairs or maintenance needs to supervisors or maintenance staff for further action.
Respond to cleaning and maintenance emergencies in a timely and efficient manner.
Ensure that all custodial equipment is properly maintained and stored.
Assist with maintaining an organized and tidy storage area for cleaning supplies and equipment.
Follow all health and safety protocols and guidelines in performing custodial duties.
Assist in maintaining a safe and hazard-free environment for staff, guests, and members.
Help create an outstanding work environment, as well as set the bar for providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Recreation Coordinators, Recreation Supervisors, Recreation Program Managers, Deputy Director of Recreation and Parks, or the Director of Recreation and Parks or their designee.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to perform custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing.
Knowledge of safe chemical use and handling procedures.
Ability to perform minor maintenance tasks (e.g., light bulb replacement, minor plumbing repairs).
Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify areas needing cleaning or maintenance.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
Ability to lift and move heavy objects when required.
Ability to follow safety procedures and report hazards or damages promptly.
Good verbal communication skills to interact with staff and patrons.
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Previous custodial or maintenance experience preferred, but not required.
Knowledge of general cleaning and custodial procedures.
Basic knowledge of minor maintenance tasks and the ability to perform light repairs.
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
A background free of prior felony convictions.
Regular and punctual attendance is essential for this position.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
WELL MEMBERSHIP
Part-time employees are eligible to enroll in the employee Well membership program. This program allows employees to receive an individual Well membership if they meet the program's quarterly goal.

RETIREMENT PENSION
The City contributes 14% monthly toward retirement benefits offered through the Ohio Retirement System (OPERS) and the employee contributes 10%.

PERSONAL LEAVE
Part-time employees who have worked for a minimum of 1,000 hours during the prior calendar year for the City, shall be eligible for forty (40) hours of paid personal leave each year. Part-time employees who have worked less than 1,000 hours but more than 500 hours in the previous calendar year for the City shall be eligible for twenty-four (24) hours of paid personal leave each year.
