The location of this position is flexible and open to virtual and/or remote based applicants. Individuals located within 35 miles of one of our major offices, will need to adhere to our hybrid schedule.

This senior-level engineering lead is responsible for driving the modernization and cloud transformation of Nationwide's enterprise contact center platforms, with a focus on Genesys Cloud CX and AWS integration. The role involves leading the design and implementation of scalable, resilient solutions for over 6,000 users across 50+ business units. It emphasizes governance, CI/CD automation, and infrastructure as code to ensure efficient and reliable deployments. The position also champions innovation through AI, real-time analytics, and emerging technologies, while collaborating across business and IT teams to align technical delivery with strategic outcomes. As a subject matter expert, the role provides technical oversight, mentors engineering staff, and represents the Contact Center Solutions Team in enterprise forums. Required qualifications include extensive experience in contact center technologies, cloud-native development, and leadership, with preferred certifications in Genesys Cloud and AWS.

As a Software Engineer you will focus on mentoring and leading others to deliver high quality, cost-effective technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Mentors and trains others on design techniques, tools and coding standards.
  • Executes and provides strategic advice on using technology to achieve goals.
  • Drives cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.
  • Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and best practices.
  • Champions the use of DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
  • Drives continuous learning and improvement through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
  • Works across organizations and product areas to drive joint technical roadmaps.
  • Manages individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables proactively.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Director or above.

Typical Skills and Experiences

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience: Eight or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Hands on technical leadership experience leading project teams and setting technical direction. Proficiency in multiple programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Extensive knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle sophisticated business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Working Conditions: Office environment may vary based on team and/or location. Associates may have on-call responsibility after normal working hours and/or on weekends.

The national salary range for Sr Consultant, Software Engineer : $134,000.00-$259,000.00

The expected starting salary range for Sr Consultant, Software Engineer : $145,000.00 – $219,000.00
