Job Description:

The Drug and Alcohol Technician is responsible for the oversight of the Drug and Alcohol testing program, including quality of service, regulatory compliance, problem-solving, quality improvement, client billing and patient safety. Functions as a resource and maintains effective communications with business clients and laboratory personnel.

• Schedules and performs drug and alcohol collections accurately, timely and efficiently according to the appropriate governing bodies.
• Exhibits outstanding customer service by serving as a resource person for all drug and alcohol clients and maintains communications with testing laboratories and MROs.
• Maintains third party administration database for the selection of client random collections.
• Reviews, logs and distributes drug and breath alcohol results to appropriate clients.
• Serves as the trainer for inpatient and outpatient collectors.
• Maintains and updates collectors of regulatory standards and process changes for DOT, FAA, FMCSA, FRA, FTA, PHMSA, USCG, NRC, HHS and various Government Contractors.
• Assists leadership with development of training materials and work instructions for staff and clients.
• Coordinates and presents in-services, refreshers and competency assessments for all laboratory collectors annually and otherwise as needed.
• Assists leader with manager and supervisor training for TPA clients.
• Maintains certifications and continuing education for self and team of collectors for DATIA and other governing bodies.
• Maintains reporting mechanisms for error correction reports and QA reports for quarterly leadership meetings.
• Conduct and maintain on-site collection program for athletic drug testing and other clients by request.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

• Associate's degree, Medical Laboratory Technician, preferred.
• High School Diploma, required
• Phlebotomy Program Training, required
• Certified Professional Collector - within 60 days of hire
• Certified Collector Trainer - required within 180 days of hire
• Minimum 1 year previous Drug and Alcohol collector experience preferred
• Minimum of 1 year of outpatient phlebotomy experience required
• Previous healthcare or laboratory experience required

Exerting up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible up to 10 pounds amount of force often.
