Job Title: Genetic Technologist I
Location: Columbus, OH
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 6-month Contract to Hire
Shift: Mon-Fri | Day Shift | Rotating Weekends & Holidays
Essential Functions:
- Performs routine and complex technical laboratory procedures and follows proper equipment use, maintenance, and documentation.
- Drafts patient reports by interpreting assay results and records laboratory processes and data, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Performs Quality Control testing of newly received reagents, chemicals, and kits used for patient testing. Completes all quality training and participates in quality assurance programs.
- Reviews the status of clinical and research cases with appropriate leaders. Identifies and communicates problems, errors, and deviations in lab processes.
- Maintains a safe working environment, following applicable laws and regulations and assisting with ongoing safety audits.
Education Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution, or Bachelor's degree equivalent education as defined in the Code of Federal Regulations: 42CFR493.1405(b)(5)(i)(B).
Certifications:
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certified or eligible for certification as a Technologist by an approved agency – MLS(ASCP), MB(ASCP), or CG(ASCP), required.
- Certification exam must be passed within 3 years of hire date.
- Completes minimum of 12 hours Continuing Education annually.

Experience:
Genetics laboratory testing experience, preferred.
