Pay Rate: $23.31-$38.39 hourly

Job Description:

The Polysomnographer works under medical supervision to perform and evaluate overnight sleep studies/polysomnograms. Functions independently to safely operate sophisticated medical equipment to record sleep/wake physiology. Application of recording devices to the patient, cleaning/sterilization of equipment, and monitoring of polysomnograms are essential duties. Must recognize sleep pathology and respond with appropriate interventions.

  • Performs sleep disorder testing to include: obstructive sleep apnea, therapeutic studies, Myoclonus, Narcolepsy, and portable monitoring.
  • Cleans and maintains all equipment.
  • Reviews polysomnogram and generates initial or final report that accurately summarizes sleep/wake periods, REM, episodes, arousal analysis, EEG phenomena, cardiac events, respiratory events, limb movements, and other physiological events according to current guidelines.
  • Attends departmental meetings on a regular basis and reads and initials meeting minutes.
  • Recognizes and responds to all emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Understands indications, contraindications, and adverse effects of all procedures performed in sleep center.
  • Ability to titrate CPAP both nasal/oral BiPAP and oxygen based on physicians order and established protocols.
  • Schedule patients and perform precertification prior to testing as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and file patient charts.
  • Other duties as assigned by charge/lead technician, medical director, or department manager.
  • Education of patients, public, and staff.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelors degree from an accredited AMA school for Respiratory Therapy. RPSGT/CCSH required.
  • Previous experience in Respiratory Care and sleep disorder testing preferred.

Exerting up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible up to 10 pounds amount of force often.
