Travel And Protection Program Specialist

The Travel And Protection Program Specialist is primarily responsible for conducting high-level threat analysis and the implementation of security strategies to protect executives and key stakeholders. Leads the assessment and mitigation of potential risks through intelligence gathering, threat assessments, and proactive security planning. Conducts comprehensive analysis of social media, local and national intelligence, and physical security for the executive leadership team, providing critical recommendations and ensuring implementation of strategies to enhance safety and security. Briefs management and senior leadership on significant emerging risks and recommends protective measures to mitigate risks. Works closely with internal teams, including Emergency Management, Health Services, Battelle Aviation, Insider Threat, and Security to ensure alignment of security measures with executives and organizational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, organize, and implement comprehensive security strategies and protective initiatives for executives, Board members, VIPs, and distinguished guests, ensuring the safety of individuals and properties, and managing all related security logistics.
  • Conduct threat assessments, investigations, and detailed mission planning to mitigate risks and vulnerabilities to executives; develop, implement, and periodically review executive protection plans, procedures, and programs to support safety, security, operational continuity, and provide program assurance to management and Senior Leadership.
  • Drive cross-functional integration and ensure alignment of executive protection strategies with internal teams, including Emergency Management, Health Services, Battelle Aviation, Insider Threat, and Security, resulting in comprehensive security measures that proactively address organizational and executive needs.
  • Oversee security planning and management for visits from public officials and dignitaries, including conducting advanced site assessments, coordinating with their advanced security teams and local law enforcement, and ensuring secure movement and logistics.
  • Prepare strategies to manage and lead rapid mobilization for executive protection missions on short notice and with unanticipated incidents, preparing and briefing leadership with up-to-date personal profiles and risk assessments for individuals under the protection program.
  • Escort and travel with executives during events, visits, and public appearances, while continuously monitoring crowd behavior to proactively identify and manage potential threats.
  • Provide strategic direction and expert guidance in collaboration with internal Security management on executive protection strategies and measures, ensure seamless coordination with Security operations, including the GSOC and Officer protection services, and deliver backup management and specialized support to the onsite uniformed security team to maintain operational excellence and safeguard key stakeholders.

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of executive protection, law enforcement, and/or military experience with a strong background in threat assessment, risk mitigation, security planning, and executive protection in corporate, government, or high-risk settings.
  • Demonstrated expertise in intelligence gathering, behavioral threat assessment, surveillance detection, and tactical planning, with proven experience managing security logistics and maintaining situational awareness and threat detection for high-profile clients and environments.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels, including executives, board members, and external partners. Must be able to maintain tact, discretion, and confidentiality of information.
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain calm under pressure and respond effectively in high-stress situations, while exercising sound operational judgment and flexibility in response to shifting priorities and challenges.
  • Flexibility to travel, work extended hours, and adjust to shifting schedules as protection needs arise.
  • Must be licensed or ability to obtain license under Revised Code Chapter 4749.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must carry a firearm and successfully complete a thorough background investigation, drug screening, psychological and physical evaluations, and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the U.S. Department of Defense.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Homeland Security, Security Management, or a related discipline.
  • Current OPOTA Peace Officer Certification
  • CPR/AED and first responder certifications
