Candidate must be local to Columbus, Ohio for consideration.
MUST HAVE:
- Available to work on an ON-Call, Emergency, Temporary, and/or Subsitute ONLY basis.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Vehicle or Reliable Transportation.
- ASL - American Sign Language (OSD Only)
- Ability to clear federal background check and drug screen.
Essential Functions:
· Assisting PreK-12 blind/deaf children and teachers in executing programs focused on academics, vocational,
independent living, transitional and social growth.
· Redirecting students when difficulties arise.
· Supervising students in dorms, classroom, cafeteria, hallways, playground, restrooms, etc.
· Assisting students on/off transportation vehicles.
· Escorting students to different areas of the school.
· Assisting in emergency situations.
· Assisting students with emotional, physical and personal needs.
· Assisting in other day to day general tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
· 1-3 years as a Home Healthcare Aide or Classroom/Dorm Student Aide experience.
· Degree in Early Childhood Education or Special Education preferred.
· Experience working with autistic or MD children preferred.
· Experience working with deaf/blind K-12 students preferred.
· Ability to lift 30-100 pounds.
· Ability to ergonomically perform navigational task with student (push, pull, lift).
Education/Certification:
· CPI Certification Preferred.
· CPR Certification Preferred.
· ASL American Sign Language skills - or the desire to learn ASL
