Job Summary

The Interpreter Education Program (IEP) Clinical Coordinator is responsible for clinical placements for IEP students. This individual oversees the Entrance Exam for Practicum (EEP), coordinates with faculty the assessment of exams, establishes and maintains community partners who will serve as practicum sites for IEP students, and collaborates with faculty to assign liaisons for each student. The IEP Clinical Coordinator maintains an up-to-date practicum manual; leads or assists with mentoring programs, alumni communication, and ODE k12 Licensure; and assists student with graduation requirements.

Program Coordination

• Seeks and establishes placement in K-12 and community-based settings. Provides information and guidance to field liaisons and initiates Clinical Affiliate Agreements. Coordinates semesterly orientation meeting for sites/supervising interpreters and field liaisons. Reviews and updates, as needed, practicum request forms and circulates forms to students. Reviews applications, coordinates practicum placements, determines student eligibility and matches student with sites. Reviews, updates and distributes the IEP Practicum Handbook. Facilitates mandatory student meetings and organizes distribution of practicum documents. Collaborates with IEP faculty and serves as an advocate for students.
• Assists in recruitment, hiring, and training of field liaisons. Assigns faculty and adjunct liaisons to students/placement sites. Responds to issues and concerns, answers routine questions, and provides general guidance in support of students.
• Initiates and follows protocol for reporting student conduct concerns in practicums and participates in possible action steps, including development of student action plans or program dismissal. Provides ongoing support to field instructors. Responds to partner organizations' concerns or questions.

Student Support

• Provides customer service. Responds to telephone and email inquiries, meets with potential students, participates in program information sessions and provides general assistance.

Administrative

• Provides administrative support for faculty and adjuncts. Keeps ongoing records of clinical placements. Maintains confidential or sensitive records and information.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalency
• Must have 2 years' experience in American Sign Language Interpreting
• Must have 2 years' experience in teaching or coordinating service provision.

Licenses and Certifications:

• State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
