IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN)

As an IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN), GS-2210-12, you will perform the following duties:

  1. Serves as project leader responsible for developing, assigning, and coordinating duties and projects for systems administrators.
  2. Develops, modifies, and tests overall system backup and recovery strategies for all systems.
  3. Serves as the technical expert and focal point for installation, configuration, and testing of hardware and software associated with multiple operating systems and computer platforms.
  4. Serves as the senior systems administrator responsible for planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting to support customer needs.
  5. Analyzes, evaluates, and recommends hardware/software changes to various computer systems.
  6. Develops guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), bulletins, and flyers concerning the operation/use of C4 systems, services, and activities.
  7. Plans and schedules the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
  8. Implements operating system releases and maintains the operational status of systems.
  9. Performs security management in accordance with NGB regulations and state policies.
  10. Develops policy for all systems storage requirements throughout the state.
  11. Troubleshoots problems and implements changes on multiple computer platforms.
  12. Coordinates with specialists and managers at higher levels to obtain information for interfacing with systems at those levels and to facilitate the acquisition and exchange of information technology.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Ohio Army National Guard Membership is required. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required within one year of the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the Ohio Army National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

  • Incumbent must complete appropriate training and obtain required certifications IAW DoDI 8140 or DOD 8570.01M or applicable governing document(s) for Cyber workforce as an IA Technician Level within 9 months of employment pending training seat availability.

Qualifications:

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, and/or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Specialized experience time requirements of 1-year equivalent to at least next lower grade level apply for two-grade interval work.

Education: Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. If you are using education to qualify for this position, you must provide official transcripts or other official documentation to support your educational claims. To receive credit for education, you must provide official documentation of proof that you meet the education requirements for this position.

Additional information:

***If serving under an incentive contract, termination of that incentive(s) will occur effective one day prior to your AGR, Permanent Military Technician, or Indefinite Military Technician start date. Temporary Military Technicians will have their incentive terminated if their tour exceeds 179 days in a continuous 12-month period.
