Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor, and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or have obtained tenure. Duties include research, service, and/or teaching or clinical practice, assigned according to workload guidelines of their tenure initiation unit (TIU) and regional campus, with a requirement of a doctorate or equivalent experience in the relevant field.

Position Overview

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Wexner Medical Center seek applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, focusing on research in acute and chronic pain mechanisms and therapeutic management. Candidates should have an established or promising independent research program and contribute to departmental and institutional academic life through mentoring, teaching, and service. Rank and track depend on experience and record.

Department Overview

Ohio State's Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) is nationally recognized for its multidisciplinary rehabilitation education and training. It has been a leader in care for traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and stroke for over 50 years, ranked #1 in Columbus and #33 nationally by U.S. News & World Report, and ranked 24th for its residency program. The department manages the Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital and is part of Ohio State's Neurological Institute, with a strong research funding profile and focus on neurorehabilitation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Lead a cutting-edge, extramurally funded research program on pain mechanisms and management.
  2. Collaborate across OSU with faculties from various colleges.
  3. Mentor students and postdoctoral fellows.
  4. Contribute to university and community service.
  5. Engage in departmental teaching as needed.

Requirements

  1. PhD, MD, or equivalent degree.
  2. Proven scholarly excellence with influential publications.
  3. Potential or record of securing extramural funding.
