Overview

Program Overview: The Columbus Zoo Summer Camp program serves children in grades 1-7. Students participating in this work-based learning opportunity will assist the Summer Camp staff.

Qualifications

• Ability to work well with children.
• Ability to maintain a positive and inclusive camp environment.
• Ability to balance multiple assignments successfully.
• Ability to work in varied weather conditions (e.g., extreme heat, rain).
• Ability to maintain courteous and helpful behavior.
• Ability to maintain appropriate employee appearance (refer to uniform guidelines in the employee handbook).
• Subject to Drug Free Workplace Policy.
• Subject to Criminal Background check and fingerprinting.

• Assist with the instruction of planned lessons and activities for children in grades 1-7.
• Prepare classroom, teaching materials, and art supplies.
• Set up and clean-up program activities and/or snacks.
• Participate in Zoo walks and assist with the supervision of campers while on Zoo grounds.
• Attend mandatory training on June 14, 2025.
• Work Monday through Thursday from June 16, 2025, to July 11, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. There is an option to apply to extend this role until August 8, 2025.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
