Exempt Position: Assistant Treasurer

Job Description: The Assistant Treasurer supports functions in the school district's finance department, which in turn, supports the entire school district. The role requires a broad knowledge and experience in payroll, benefits, accounts receivable, budgetary processes, reporting, and banking. Due to this wide range of responsibilities, the Assistant Treasurer must be flexible and well-organized.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field;
  2. Three to five years experience in auditing, budgeting or finance preferred;
  3. In-depth knowledge of auditing standards, procedures, laws, rules and regulations;
  4. High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills;
  5. Satisfactory criminal background check in accordance with Ohio law; and
  6. Such alternatives to the above as deemed by the Treasurer/CFO, including a School Treasurer License or willingness to obtain one.

Essential Functions:

  1. Completes monthly/annual reconciliations and filings;
  2. Completes projects in a timely manner;
  3. Posts and balances receipts and all accounts receivable transactions;
  4. Develops and manages budgets, including grants;
  5. Responsible for posting checks (memo) and payments;
  6. Processes banking transactions and supports fraud prevention;
  7. Assists with payroll-related items such as FMLA, COBRA, and 1095 forms/paperwork;
  8. Cross-trains with other staff in the Treasurer's Office and provides backup support;
  9. Collaborates with the Treasurer/CFO, Director of Employee Relations, Business Manager, Director of Operations, and other staff on projects;
  10. Maintains a positive attitude and works well with others;
  11. Demonstrates sound judgment, emotional stability, and confidentiality;
  12. Uses office equipment such as computers and copiers;
  13. Attends meetings and in-services as required;
  14. Performs other duties as assigned by the Treasurer/CFO.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Excellent computer skills, including word processing and cloud-based systems;
  2. Ability to work collaboratively or independently to solve complex problems;
  3. Attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills;
  4. Proficiency in math, accounting principles, and procedures, including basic operations and percentage calculations;
  5. Ability to learn district-specific software and Google Education tools;
  6. Effective communication skills, both oral and written;
  7. Active listening skills;
  8. Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and technologies.

Work Schedule and Benefits:

8 paid hours per day; 12 paid holidays; 260 days per year. Benefits include School Employees Retirement, Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance, along with Vacation, Personal, and Sick Leave. The annual salary ranges from $77,642 to $119,798, highly dependent on experience and qualifications.
