Primary Job Function:

The Reynoldsburg City Schools Executive Director of Diverse Learners and Whole Child Support has direct ownership of all activities targeted at improving instructional practice, and ultimately driving outstanding academic outcomes for each diverse learner, ensuring each RCS student has a safe, meaningful, and positive place in our community to harness and grow their unique gifts. This position is responsible for providing critical, equitable and transformative support to students with diverse learning needs.

Minimum Quali?cations:

  • Master's degree in special education or related ?eld Valid Ohio Administrator's license
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of leadership experience in special education leading teams A minimum of ?ve (5) years implementing district-wide strategies related to teaching and learning for diverse learners
  • Valid Ohio driver's license

Creating the Culture
  • Responsible for creating a culture that builds the commitment to a shared vision for serving diverse learners in a manner that drives high expectations and outstanding academic outcomes
  • Responsible for creating a culture that works collaboratively across the organization to identify opportunities and solve challenges for children with diverse learning needs
  • Responsible for creating a culture that champions innovation among administrators, teachers and sta? by encouraging, recognizing and rewarding initiative and improvement in new ideas
  • Responsible for creating a culture of continuous improvement by proactively establishing systems to gather feedback from schools and families intended to in?uence both policies and practices at the district level that support the education of diverse learners
Leadership
  • Responsible for assisting the superintendent, district leadership, and cabinet members in developing the district's priorities and goals related to diverse learners
  • Responsible for modeling the district's philosophy for inclusive education
  • Responsible for supervising and supporting the Director of Special Education
  • Responsible for supervising and supporting the director of Whole Child Supports
  • Responsible for leading with a diverse and whole child learner lens
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of proactive, diverse learner initiatives
  • Responsible for partnering with stakeholders to understand and dismantle existing institutional barriers that prohibit diverse learners from achieving their success goals
  • Responsible for serving as a thought leader to enhance new and innovative ways to provide services that support the whole student
  • Responsible for leveraging research, best practices and personal expertise around Diverse Learners to design and articulate clear theories of pedagogy, develop intervention programs, implement curriculum and assess e?cacy to improve the delivery of special education and related services
Communication and Support
  • Responsible for building e?ective productive working relationships with internal departments throughout RCS to champion diverse learner education
  • Responsible for developing and overseeing the delivery of training essential to support all educators to be fully equipped to provide diverse learner instruction that results in the achievement of student performance goals
  • Responsible for designing and leading professional development activities on issues related to diverse learners and the whole student
  • Responsible for providing coaching and support to building and departmental administrators in leading diverse learner initiatives at the schools and department levels
  • Responsible for partnering with and supporting the Director of Human Resources in developing a strategic plan for recruiting and retaining diverse sta? representative of the district's student and family population
  • Responsible for serving on and supporting district, local, county and state committees as assigned
Budget and Finance
  • Responsible for maintaining and monitoring operational and ?scal resources for Diverse Learners and Whole Child programs and services
  • Responsible for submitting required reports and budget narratives as required by the district state and federal guidelines
  • Responsible for partnering with the budget o?ce to develop and maintain the annual department budget that advances educational outcomes for diverse learner students. This includes forecasting, budget building and monitoring

  • Knowledge of legal issues and requirement related to Special Education
  • Knowledge of Diverse Learner and Whole Student programs and services
  • Knowledge of associated Special Education laws, including IDEA, 504, ELL laws
  • Knowledge of Diverse Learners and Whole Student best practices
  • Knowledge of social-emotional learning best practices
  • Knowledge of restorative practices
  • Knowledge of learning theory and instructional methodology
  • Knowledge of child development, psychopathology, social and environmental conditioning, cultural diversity and family systems
  • Skilled in e?ective listening and communication
  • Skilled at presenting information professionally, concisely, and e?ectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Skilled at providing sound judgment
  • Skilled at attending to detail and the highest level
  • Skills in organization, time management, task prioritization and recordkeeping
  • Ability to plan, organize, and oversee assigned work programs, including monitoring work schedules and work performance
  • Ability to understand the integration of special needs students into a school setting
  • Ability to work well under pressure and use sound judgment, including appropriate handling of con?dential matters
  • Ability to provide guidance and direction to sta? and promote a team environment
  • Ability to facilitate and promote con?ict resolution
  • Ability to interact positively and e?ectively with, students, sta?, and administrators
  • Ability to use computers and/or electronic equipment to ful?ll job functions
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
  • Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others. The employee is required to sit or stand and move around for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to push, pull, lift and carry over 25 pounds on occasion.
  • Working Conditions - The employee in this position may experience occasional exposure to blood, bodily ?uids and tissue. The employee may also be required to interact with unruly children.
  • Driving Requirement - This position may require driving.
