About the Role

  • The Bilingual Dean of Students plays a vital role in maintaining a positive school culture by supporting student behavior, attendance, and engagement. This position serves as a key liaison for Spanish-speaking families, ensuring clear communication and access to school resources. The dean collaborates with teachers and staff to implement restorative practices, monitor student progress, and foster strong relationships that promote student success.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce school-wide behavior and attendance policies
  • Support student interventions and discipline processes
  • Communicate regularly with families in Spanish and English
  • Supervise students during arrival, lunch, and dismissal
  • Lead or support student meetings and family conferences
  • Provide translation/interpretation during meetings and for school communications

Qualifications

  • Fluent in Spanish and English (required)
  • Bachelor's degree (required); education or related field preferred
  • Experience working with students in school or youth programs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with PBIS or restorative practices is a plus
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
  • Proficient in basic technology tools (email, student information systems, Google Workspace)
  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong follow-through

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in K–12 schools, preferably in a leadership, behavioral support, or student services role
  • Knowledge of restorative practices, PBIS, or trauma-informed care
  • Experience working with diverse, multilingual communities
  • Familiarity with Ohio education policies and charter school environments
  • Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related field
