Compensation: Per Administrative Salary Schedule

REPORTS TO: Superintendent

Job Goals:

Provide direction and organizational structure to the instruction staff in the implementation of policies and procedures related to curriculum and instruction, completion and updating of the school district's curriculum, Gifted and Talented, and other areas of curriculum and instructional leadership as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Education
  • Valid Ohio Teaching License
  • Valid Supervisor's, Principal's or Superintendent's License
  • Minimum of five years of teaching and/or supervisory or administrative experience (Administrative experience is highly desirable).
  • Experience in the areas of (a) curriculum development (b) professional development.
  • Required criminal background check
  • Meets USCIS I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership in the development, implementation, and coordination of the district's curriculum and instructional programs
  • Helps coordinate efforts of the professional staff in projects of curriculum involvement, integration of curriculum, instruction and assessment, including the integration of instructional technology
  • Serves as District Testing Coordinator for Ohio State Tests, including AIR Tests, End of Course Exams, AASCD, OELPA, and ACT/SAT
  • Engages educational leaders in the analysis of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments (National, State, local) and design programs to enhance student learning
  • Works with principals and teacher committees in organizing and coordinating grade-level and departmental activities in order to effect horizontal and vertical continuity and articulation of the instructional program
  • Evaluates teachers as assigned
  • Supports school improvement plans and initiatives
  • Leads the school district's Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC)
  • Directs district efforts for compliance with Ohio's Learning Standards in curriculum development and formulation of curriculum guides
  • Studies and evaluates, and, as appropriate, recommends new instructional materials, textbooks, methods, and programs
  • Keeps abreast of and interprets for the staff current research in the area of curriculum development
  • Presents curriculum and proposed curriculum changes to the superintendent, administration, staff, and as requested to board members and/or general public
  • Assists with policy revision, as necessary in the areas of curriculum and instructional programs
  • Assists with development of the District Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan
  • Completes State compliance reports regarding funds involving CTE and any related local and State reports
  • Directs and manages gifted services
  • Responsible for the supervision and implementation of the district's gifted services
  • Develops processes and procedures to ensure the accurate reporting of gifted services as it impacts the EMIS data management
  • Coordinates and monitors staff development and in-service activities for the staff
  • Coordinates all school and department efforts in the successful implementation of the adopted Portrait of a Graduate
  • Works with teachers in their classrooms and offers insights for the enrichment of the teaching-learning situations, upon request from school administration
  • Collaborates with Treasurer to develop and maintain annual budgets for areas of responsibility
  • Collaborates with Educational Management Information System (EMIS) personnel (if necessary) as it relates to the school district report card
  • Coordinates the district's mentoring program and support program for initial and newly hired educators according to State guidelines
  • Reports to the Board or community on student achievement at all levels and in all programs as measured through the district and State assessment systems, as requested
  • Coordinates activities between the school district and outside agencies, e.g., ODE, Fairfield County ESC, Battelle for Kids, and Ashland University
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent

Additional Working Conditions:

  • Must occasionally be exposed to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
  • Must follow all safety guidelines for blood borne pathogens
  • Must occasionally climb steps.
  • Must occasionally lift items weighing 40 lbs.
  • Must occasionally plug in and unplug electrical equipment.
  • May occasionally interact with students and/or irate adults.
