As our Director of Family Services, you'll champion the wellbeing of children and families in our Head Start program by building transformative partnerships, ensuring access to critical resources, and leading a team of dedicated Family Advocates.   • Thinks, communicates, and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
  • Develop and manage a system for Family Advocates to build collaborative partnerships with parents. Work with Family Advocates to ensure that parents have access to services and resources responsive to their interests and goals, and follow-up with them to ensure the referral met their expectations and circumstances
  • Monitor child files, information entered into ChildPlus, quality of work with each Advocate, and compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and other regulations.
  • Oversee process for identifying family goals, strengths, necessary services and supports. Tracks progress in achieving family goals.
  • Ensure recruitment plans are created and implemented to meet full enrollment and active waitlist for each center is managed efficiently. Analyze enrollment data to inform the planning process and absenteeism when average daily attendance falls below requirements.
  • Promote positive child and family outcomes by analyzing enrollment and absenteeism; sharing pertinent information with appropriate Leadership Team members to ensure coordination of services;
  • Work with the Executive Director in helping center policy council member involvement, including but not limited to communicating regularly with policy council members, monitor attendance, encourage volunteers, and attend meetings.
  • Track ERSEA and family partnership efforts and outcomes, analyze data and make program development recommendations to the leadership team.
  • Collaborate on strategies for ongoing monitoring and annual self-assessment success.
  • Support family advocates in the implementation of the new parenting curriculum.
  • Take an active role in community planning and advocacy to improve the delivery of services to children and families. Attend local, state and regional initiatives to represent the program, to develop professionally, and build relationships with agencies to improve services within our program.
  • Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth. Participates in required abuse risk management training. Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements. Adheres to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and viewpoints from all social and economic segments of the organization and community.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's in Education, Family Services, Social Work or related field. Knowledge of Head Start and State Child Care Licensing regulations preferred.
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with staff, parents, and community agencies
  • Knowledge of community based organizations preferred.
  • Work flexible hours to meet the needs of the program. Participates in required professional development activities to enhance skills.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • YMCA Team Leader certification, if not certified, must obtain certification with 12-24 months:
  • Basic computer literacy in email, word processing and internet navigation
  • Maintain required health and safety certifications, required within 6 months of hire.
