Starting Pay Rate: $19.20 hourly
What You Will be DoingMedical administrative assistants play an essential role on the I Am Boundless, Inc. residential nursing team. The Medical Administrative Assistant reports to the ICF Registered Nurse and will perform clerical work to support the residential nursing team. The Medical Administrative Assistant is responsible for keeping all individuals' medical files organized and current and completes the administrative duties, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, completing audits, and attending meetings.
Primary Job Responsibilities - Answer phones and screen callers to understand with whom they need to speak, forward calls, arrange meetings, manage mail/email/facsimiles and other correspondence and ensure correspondence is accurate, complete and properly handled.
- Schedule and coordinate appointments for individuals and contacts nurse if medical discretion and decision making is necessary related to delaying, rescheduling, or cancelling appointments.
- Communicate effectively with all staff.
- Ability to identify problems, seek appropriate guidance, and report observations to nurse.
- File medical records.
- Notifies staff of needed medical appointments.
- Works directly with nursing team.
- Refills medications by calling in a prescription ordered by a physician identifying who they are and their role (ONLY with MA certificate).
- Orders medical supplies.
- Attend individual's medical appointments as needed.
- Perform duties in compliance with HIPAA and all other legal standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Skills & Experience: - High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver License with 5 or less points
- Must have good attention to detail and the ability to function effectively under deadlines, changing priorities and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel & Outlook
Preferred Education, Skills & Experience: - CNA, STNA, MA, CMA, or PCA certification
- Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR - adult, child, and infant (training will be provided if not already certified).
- Two years' experience working with developmentally disabled individuals.
Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment, within the ICF locations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TravelTravel is necessary, but primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected on occasion.
