General Medicine (H9A) The Gen Med team cares for a range of patients whom do not fit any other specialty (Asthma, Failure to Thrive, Hyperbilirubinemia, readmit unit for neonatal, first-time seizure, adolescent med). H9A is a fast-paced unit that typically turns over 8-10 patients per day, with 90% of admissions coming from the Emergency Room. Responsibilities Performs clerical office coordination and administrative tasks as necessary. Collects, documents, and reports vital signs such as: blood pressure or mean arterial pressure, heights, and weights. Completes screening questions and documents all items into medical record. Promotes general patient safety and performs minor specimen testing. Holds, positions patients and assists with procedures. Preps all materials and supplies as needed. Remains compliant with HIPAA, maintains professionalism and ensures confidentiality of patient information. Ensures environmental standards are met and all clinic and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained. Identifies learning needs and attends continuing education as appropriate. Participates in educational activities offered by the business unit. Acts as a preceptor of orientation and training of other PCA staff. Responsible for the transport of non-controlled medications from Pharmacy to designated licensed healthcare practitioners at their discretion or from tube system to secured medication storage room. Qualifications Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Candidates must meet at least one of the following: Have an active, Ohio STNA license Have at least one year of comparable, patient care experience in a hospital setting within the past three years Nursing students can qualify if they have successfully co
