Position Summary

This Rates & Accounts Analyst opportunity focuses on project and operations management within the Client Value Team, collaborating with Intake, Client Account Services, Finance, and Marketing to manage rate exceptions, pricing arrangements, discounts, AFAs, and more. The role supports client/matter opening and closing, fee analyses, and related operations to improve efficiency and financial performance.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensure the integrity of client/matter setup components, including agreed rates, alternative billing arrangements, matter type, task/phase, industry, and coding structures. Review rate/fee requests during Intake and review rates/terms in engagement letters, billing guidelines, and OCGs.
- Monitor and recommend modifications to rate exceptions; identify and correct coding inaccuracies; analyze timekeeper activity with a focus on OCG compliance; conduct AFA and discount analyses and recommend fee adjustments to improve financial performance.
- Conduct post-matter fee analyses to compare performance to initial fee arrangements; collaborate with relationship attorneys to refine future fee arrangements.
- Provide reporting and support in collaboration with LPM professionals, practice directors, billers, collections specialists, attorneys, and firm management related to rates, coding, collection timelines, and realization.
- Maintain a reference library of best practices and productive approaches.
- Conduct market research related to rates, competitors, pricing structures, procurement, operations, and industry trends.
- Gather and analyze data for proactive fee proposals and RFP responses.
- Run ad hoc data pulls for attorneys and firm teams including Marketing, Client Account Services, and HR.
- Spearhead communications announcing annual rate increases and coordinate rate/fee adjustments within the annual window and year-round.
- Communicate with attorneys and professional staff in a concise, effective, and professional manner.
- Work on special projects as requested and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Project Management experience is a plus; at least 1 year of experience in project/operations management in the legal or professional services sector is preferred.
- Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, meet deadlines, and interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to work with mathematical concepts and interpret financial and statistical data.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and data visualization tools.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and professional publications; prepare business correspondence, proposals, and reports; distill data for clear presentation to stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and collaborative skills.
