What You'll Do:

In this position as a Software Development Specialist 1, your primary duties will be:

  • Develop Apex classes and triggers, Lightning Components, and Visualforce pages to extend Salesforce functionality and support business applications.
  • Design and implement Salesforce solutions, including Visualforce Pages, Lightning Pages, and Lightning Web Components (LWC).
  • Participate in the design, development, testing, and deployment of Salesforce applications.
  • Provide ongoing production support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for Salesforce and related IT systems.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including system design documents and user guides.
  • Follow established development standards, coding best practices, and version control processes.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and business units to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
  • Prepare and deliver status reports to team leads, project managers, and business stakeholders.

Report in location: 180 E. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43215, Franklin County.

PUCO core hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, with start/end times varying based on operational needs. Most positions are on-site at the PUCO Central Office. Flex-time schedules are subject to supervisor approval.

Salary Information: Starting salary is at the lowest range, with potential step increases within six months and annually thereafter. The State of Ohio offers cost of living adjustments, longevity supplements after five years, and wellness incentives.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • 36 months of combined work experience in developing/modifying programs, testing, debugging, and analysis, including 12 months in Salesforce.
  • Or completion of an associate's degree in computer science or information systems with 18 months of related experience, including 12 months in Salesforce.
  • Or completion of a bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems with 12 months of related experience, including 12 months in Salesforce.
  • Or equivalent qualifications as noted in the official position description.
