Classification Purpose: The primary purpose of the Landscaper classification is to perform all-season landscape maintenance duties at county buildings and facilities.
Job Duties: Perform complex landscape maintenance duties (e.g., prune plants, fertilizes, seed lawns, lay sod, trim shrubs, mow, edge and water lawns, work with pavers and hardscape materials, etc.). Plant trees, shrubs, and flowers. Clean ground (e.g., dispose of paper and debris, empty trash cans and waste containers, dispose of waste appropriately, lay gravel and mulch, remove snow, spread salt/chemicals to clean sidewalks and parking lots). Operate, service, and maintain equipment (e.g., tractors, mowers, dump trucks, gators, sprayers, snow blowers, bobcat, skid loaders, forklifts, tillers, welders and stump grinders). Perform general and routine building maintenance duties as assigned. Clean, paint, sharpen blades and trimmers, and install various attachments to landscape maintenance equipment. Perform snow and ice removal outside county buildings and inside county garages.
Keep tools and equipment clean. Perform general preventative maintenance and minor repairs on landscape equipment and tools. Operate and maintain irrigation systems. Maintain records of tools, materials, parts and supplies used. Prepare records and reports on work that has been accomplished or completed. Responsible for placing orders for materials or supplies, as needed. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Major Worker Characteristics: Knowledge of inventory control; safety practices; agency policy and procedure. Skill in skilled trade; equipment operation. Ability to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions; add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers; calculate fractions, decimals and percentages; maintain accurate records; demonstrate physical fitness.
Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment: Any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience including but not limited to:High School diploma or GED with two (2) years of commercial landscape experience.
Additional Requirements: Must maintain a valid Ohio driver's license and Certified Pesticide license is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None required.
Unusual Working Conditions: May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) to perform duties.
