Objectives

Individual is responsible for performing skilled trade work in assigned area(s). Individual may be assigned to install, perform maintenance, and repair work in varying occupational areas. Individual reports to Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
Job Standards

High School Degree or GED plus three (3) years of experience and/or technical training in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, landscape, and/or other skilled trade.
Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Must meet and maintain qualifications for driving on county business as a continued condition of employment.
All required licenses and certificates must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
Essential Functions

  • Diagnoses repairs and prepares material and labor estimates;
  • Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs complex systems and equipment in one or more areas of assignment such as boilers, electrical, air conditioning systems, mechanical and plumbing systems;
  • Maintains records of installation, maintenance and repair orders to track activities ensuring work is documented and on file; prepares status reports for projects;
  • Inventories and orders supplies, parts, equipment and materials for projects and programs including determining appropriate supplies and materials and locating vendors; maintains adequate supply levels and inventory controls;
  • Performs all types of maintenance, including preventative duties and repairs to electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning equipment;
  • Utilizes skills in carpentry, masonry, painting and lock maintenance;
  • Unclogs drains, repairs damaged pipes, maintains roofs, gutters and down spouts;
  • Performs miscellaneous projects utilizing hand tools and power equipment as needed;
  • Maintains van interior, exterior and ensures van inventory is organized;
  • Responds to emergency maintenance calls during and outside typical work schedule and business hours;
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance;
  • Drives vehicles to various locations as required;
  • Attends various training sessions, video conferences, and workshops;
  • Performs typing, word processing, and related computer operations;
  • Works overtime and outside of typical work schedule/business hours as required; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
